A finger splint is a medical device used to support and protect your finger during its healing process. Finger splints come in all different shapes and sizes. They are a flat, padded, and metal plate. It’s meant to be bent over and around a finger, in order to keep the finger from moving and causing further damage. Finger splints are used to help heal a bunch of different injuries and/or conditions such as arthritis, fractures, sprains, being jammed, and etcetera. Finger splints are casts for your fingers used to support and protect injured bones, ligaments, tendons and other tissues. They can help injured, sprained, or even broken bones heal by keeping the broken end of each bone together and as straight as possible for the bones to begin healing properly. For a broken or sprained finger to heal, it needs to be kept still. These splints may also help relieve pain and swelling, and protect the injured area from more harm.
